Evaluations
+ All players are required to check in 15min prior to the start of their session.
+ Players need to attend at least 1 evaluation date to be considered for a cyo team, but both are dates recommended.
+ Parents will not be permitted in the gym during evaluations.
+ Evaluation will last around 45 min

League
Ø Multiple teams per grade (coach dependent)
Ø All players are required to be evaluations for a team and must live within the St Bernard parish boundaries
Ø All players must register online in order to be evaluated, we will NOT be allowing walk-ups.
Ø Players that do not make a team will receive a full refund.
Ø Evaluation registration will close on the day of evaluations , per age.
Ø Players will only need to attend 1 of the dates below but are encouraged to make both, if possible
Ø All teams will play in the CYO of Long island League against other local parishes (10-12 games plus playoffs)
Ø Teams will also play in a second local Winter league (10 games)
Ø Cost for Full Season depends upon leagues teams will play in
– 3rd & 4th Grade - $350 to $405
- 5th Grade - $375 to $430
- 6th - 8th Grade - $385 to $440
- Additional cost for Uniforms (est. $50) *we will be using the same uniforms from 2023/24/25/26 season.
Ø Practices will start Shortly after evaluations. Girl's games - Oct 14th to Jan 20th, Boy’s games - Nov 18th to Mar 5th

| Coaches Needed |
+ We are in need of a few volunteer coaches / Assn't Coaches to run teams. No experience needed, we will train.
+ For those who would like to volunteer to Coach, you MUST enroll yourself as a volunteer while also enrolling your player(s).
+ Coaches who do not have players to enroll, click the Volunteer Button to register for your desired position.

There are a lot of questions that come in, so hopefully this FAQ will help.
In order to be evaluated for a team, each player will need to register and pay the cost of the CYO season.

All players are required to be evaluated for a team, must live within the St Bernard parish boundaries or be a parishioner and pay the down payment. This is a rule of CYO of Long Island, not ours. If your parish isn’t offering a team for your child grade, or they do not have room for them to play on a team, and you are a resident that lives in the Levittown or Island Trees school district, please reach out to us for options.
You can ONLY play for the parish you are zoned for.

We will NOT be allowing walk-ups for the evaluations. Once evaluations are complete and teams are formed, players that didn’t make a team or players that no longer want to play CYO basketball will receive a full refund. Once teams are formed and rostered, we will no longer be offering refunds.
Teams:
There is a commitment level that is expected during the basketball season and practices are REQUIRED.
All teams will be required to have a Head coach and at least 1x assistant coach.
Cost for St Bernard Season is listed above.
- Once teams are formed, players will get a link to accept their spot and pay for the rest of the season, minus the $100 deposit for evaluations.
Rosters are required to have 10 players
- Playing time is not equal or guaranteed and is earned.
Starting in the 5th grade, if two teams can be formed, an "A" and a "B" team will be formed.
Games:
All teams will play in the CYO of Long Island League against local parishes.
+ 3rd & 4th grade – 10
+ 5th grade – 10 games plus playoffs if eligible
+ 6th – 8th grade - 12 games plus playoffs if eligible)
Teams will also enter the Island Garden Super league that will consist of another 10 games
Half games will be at St Bernard, other half at local churches/gyms.
Season will end late Feb / early March
- The season will be extended if your team is eligible for playoffs.
The CYO game schedule is posted on the CYOLI website along with additional resources.
- Game schedules will be released one week prior to the start of the season.
At least one team per grade, starting at 3rd grade - two teams depending on players.
- Each grade league has an A, B & C division and teams are put in the best suited division for the team.
Playing time is NOT equal or guaranteed and is earned and is at the coaches discretion
Practices:
All teams will be provided with 1 practice a week.
Practice dates and times and based on both gym availability and the coach’s availability.
- Practice will take place at Saint Bernard's or a local school gym.
- Practices can take place weekdays after 4:30pm or on weekends.
Prior to the start of games, based on extra availability, teams may practice 2x a week.
Practices and Workouts are mandatory.
- However, school and family always come first
- Coaches will keep attendance at practices.
- Kids are expected to show up to practice on time and be ready to go by the practice start time
- Please drop your kids off at the gym, as we ask our parents not to stay during practice, as the schools do not allow it.
- All our gyms have cameras in them
Game Time:
Playing time is not guaranteed.
All kids will play, however, unlike intramurals, playing time is not equal.
Kids that show up to practice, listen, and come to play, will play.
Game play rules are different based on the league we play in
- CYO has modified rules and a mercy rule based on the teams grade (i.e. some grades may not be able to press, there may be a drop back rule after a certain number of points are scored). Rules can be found on the CYOLI website.
Officials
No belittling an official
- No profanity towards one
+ It will not be tolerated.
There should no commutations with them on the side parents or player
1 parent volunteer required at each game to keep the book
Home game - second volunteer needed to run the clock
Uniform/Clothing:
All players will be required to purchase a uniform
Additional cost for Uniforms (est. $45) that players will need to order through our apparel site.
- We will be using the same uniforms from 2021-23 season, so returning players can use last years.
- The apparel store will also have other St Bernard’s Travel Basketball clothing that can be ordered at an additional cost.
